Excel supplier data request, with a filled example

Five sheets in the structure of the European Commission's communication template for installations: a read-me, installation details, one row per good, precursors, and a sign-off. The goods sheet is where the work is — direct and indirect specific embedded emissions per CN code and production route, with the total computed for you, alongside columns for electricity consumed and its emission factor, any carbon price paid, and the basis for each figure. Send it to a producer; get back a file you can use for actual emissions.

How to fill it

1. Installation: legal operator, installation, country, and the reporting period (a calendar year, or the 12 months ending in it).
2. Goods: one row per CN code and production route. Direct and indirect specific embedded emissions in tCO2e per tonne; the total is computed.
3. Goods, same row: electricity consumed in MWh per tonne and the emission factor used, with its source.
4. Goods, same row: carbon price paid in the country of production, per tonne of product, and the instrument; the importer may deduct it.
5. Goods, same row: the data basis — measured, calculated, or default.
6. Precursors: for goods made from other CBAM goods, each precursor, its quantity per tonne and its own emissions.
7. Sign-off, then keep the records: a verifier may ask for them from January 2027.

The Commission's own sector guidance of 14 August 2026 explains how each figure is calculated; send it to the producer with this file. If no data comes back, the default value is what you price.
