Questions

What format does my import list need to be in?
One line per import with a CN code, an origin country, and a tonnage. Paste straight from Excel or a customs report — tabs, commas, semicolons and pipes all work, the column order is flexible, a header row is ignored, and weights given in kilograms are converted to tonnes.
Does my import list get uploaded anywhere?
No. The list is parsed and priced entirely in your browser. Only the published default values are fetched from the server, so your commercial data never leaves your machine.
How is the cost calculated?
Each line uses the official default embedded emission value for that CN code and country of origin under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2621, less the free allocation still deducted in that year under Regulation (EU) 2025/2620, multiplied by the tonnage and the CBAM certificate price.
Why is a line not priced?
Either the CN code is not covered by CBAM for that origin, the origin was not recognised, or the line had no tonnage. Unpriced lines are listed separately and excluded from the total rather than silently dropped.
Can I use default values in my actual CBAM declaration?
Default values are the fallback where verified actual emissions from the producer are not available. They carry a deliberate mark-up, so they are normally higher than actual figures. This tool estimates exposure; it is informational and not legal advice.
